Wednesday night (August 13th) I presented a talk at the Cardinia Farmers Forum titled “Future Proofing Australian Agriculture”. It was a receptive audience, and I enjoyed chatting with some people after my talk.
It’s so encouraging to see that farmers are interested in regenerative methods and keen to reduce synthetic inputs on their farms.
The Cardinia Shire team give up their time to offer these information evenings and provide a great meal with tea and coffee at no cost to attendees. After I presented, a very useful and informative presentation was made by Marshall Scott from the rural counselling group NEX Business and Wellness. There is funding available from governments to assist farmers in need – both for their own personal wellbeing and assistance to care for their stock. I would encourage people to go along and talk to the representatives of the various organisations helping farmers in need.
The events are held at the Cora Lyn Recreation Reserve, corner Nine Mile Road and Bunyip River Road from 6pm with the presentations at 6.30pm. For more information, please email a.groves@cardinia.vic.gov.au or call 5945 3690.
I would really encourage farmers and landholders to attend. There are lots of handouts with very useful information to help through drought and floods.
